16 April 2024 – A recent collaboration between cybersecurity firm Kaspersky and Associate Professor Jiow Hee Jhee from the Singapore Institute of Technology has shed light on the underlying factors influencing cybersecurity behaviors among educators across India, Singapore, and the Philippines. The findings, detailed in a white paper titled “Learning Cybersecurity: What Motivates Individuals to Practice Online Safety,” highlight the critical role of coping appraisal in determining individuals’ propensity to engage in secure online practices.

The study, conducted among educators in three Asian countries, underscores the importance of understanding the motivational drivers behind cybersecurity behaviors.
