New data from Visa reveals that nearly 17 percent of stablecoin-linked card volume now occurs across business and commercial programs, signaling a shift toward real-world corporate applications. As payments volume across these programs grows nearly 200 percent year over year, enterprises are increasingly adopting stablecoins for treasury management, settlement, and cross-border commerce.

MALAYSIA, 5 OCTOBER 2026 – Global payments leader Visa has released new insights demonstrating the accelerating adoption of stablecoins within commercial card programs and enterprise operations, highlighting how digital assets are transforming from trading tokens into operational financial infrastructure.

According to Visa, approximately 17 percent of stablecoin-linked card volume in financial year 2026 year-to-date took place across commercial and business card initiatives. The company currently supports more than 160 stablecoin-linked card programs worldwide spanning consumer, business, and corporate activity, with total payments volume across these offerings expanding by nearly 200 percent year over year.

The findings illustrate a broader industry transition away from speculative crypto trading toward practical corporate money movement. Recent research from Allium estimates the overall annual stablecoin payments volume between USD 401 billion and USD 527 billion, with major business use cases led by service fees at USD 56 billion, payroll at USD 43 billion, and supplier payments at USD 28 billion. Cross-border activity accounted for 43 percent of the analyzed business-to-business payment flows.

Mark Nelsen, Global Head of Product, Commercial and Money Movement Solutions at Visa, noted that businesses are seeking reliable and trusted methods to move money rather than new payment tech for its own sake. He emphasized that stablecoins have increasingly become a standard topic in conversations surrounding operational workflows, ranging from treasury operations and liquidity management to international supplier settlements.

To support this evolving ecosystem, Visa continues to build out its capabilities across payment acceptance, stablecoin settlement, and payout mechanisms, linking digital currency innovations directly into traditional real-world payment flows.
