16 March 2024 – Tourism Malaysia and Mastercard have embarked on a transformative partnership aimed at revolutionizing the traveler experience and bolstering outreach initiatives in anticipation of Visit Malaysia (VM) 2026. The collaboration, announced during a momentous Memorandum of Collaboration (MOC) exchange ceremony, designates Mastercard as Tourism Malaysia’s Exclusive Payment Partner, with a strategic emphasis on enhancing the shopping segment.

This strategic alliance focuses on four key areas: harnessing data insights and analytics through Mastercard’s regional Data & Services hub, digitizing the traveler journey via the co-creation of the Travel Malaysia app, developing world-class marketing campaigns leveraging Mastercard’s global reach, and curating exclusive Priceless Experiences and Specials for travelers, showcasing Malaysia’s diverse attractions.

YB Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, emphasized the partnership’s potential to revolutionize Malaysia’s travel and tourism sector, enhancing visitor satisfaction through innovative digital solutions. Mr. Manoharan Periasamy, Director General of Tourism Malaysia, highlighted the focus on the shopping segment to position Malaysia as a premier global shopping destination, while Mr. Safdar Khan, Division President, Southeast Asia, Mastercard, underscored the collaboration’s aim to digitize Malaysia’s travel industry and elevate its appeal as a top travel destination.
