23 November 2020 – The latest annual Facebook Inc. and Bain & Co. reveals that there will be 310 million digital consumers in Southeast Asia by the end of this year.
The study also found that Southeast Asian consumers are moving into online purchase due to the physical distancing measures imposed during the Covid-19 pandemic in the region and close to half of the respondents saying they now shop for packaged groceries via e-commerce.
The total online retail spending is projected to reach US$53 billion in 2020 before tripling to US$147 billion or average online spending per person is US$429 by 2025
The study also found that the popularity of e-wallets has been increased from 14% in 2019 to 22% in 2020 among the respondents in the region.
