PETRONAS has selected 20 startups from the Asia Pacific region to participate in the PETRONAS FutureTech 3.0 accelerator programme. The programme, in collaboration with StartupX, aims to support startup growth, foster collaboration, and provide market access for startups across the region. The selected startups offer innovative solutions in various areas, including robotics programming, sustainable energy, and AI-enabled platforms.
KUALA LUMPUR, 21 June 2023 – PETRONAS, in collaboration with StartupX Pte. Ltd., is pleased to announce the selection of 20 startups from across the Asia Pacific region to participate in the third edition of PETRONAS FutureTech, an intensive technology accelerator programme. The selected startups, representing Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, India, and Australia, offer innovative solutions ranging from robotics programming to sustainable energy technologies.
FutureTech 3.0 marks a significant milestone as it welcomes startups and partners from the region for the first time. The programme aims to support the growth of startup founders, foster collaboration and innovation, and provide greater market access for startups across the region.
Arni Laily Anwarrudin, Head of PETRONAS Ventures, expressed the company’s dedication to supporting startup growth and fostering collaboration between corporations and technology startups. The FutureTech 3.0 cohort represents a diverse range of technologies that corporations actively seek, and through the programme, PETRONAS hopes to impart industry best practices while facilitating growth and scalability for startups.
PETRONAS Innovation Garage and SEEd.Lab, five startups from PETRONAS’ internal innovation programme, will also join the FutureTech 3.0 cohort, creating a blend of technology and social development solutions.
The 16-week hybrid programme will commence with an industry immersion week in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, providing startups with experiential learning opportunities and physical site visits. The startups will also have the opportunity to showcase their solutions at Energy Asia 2023, an international event in Kuala Lumpur.
Since its launch, FutureTech 3.0 has gained seven new corporate partners and received support from ecosystem partners, including Cradle, MDEC, MIGHT, Microsoft, AWS, SG Innovate, Leave a Nest Group, NTIS, MyStartup, and TCS.
The programme has already demonstrated its success, with previous cohorts receiving investments from PETRONAS Ventures and engaging in over 20 business collaborations with PETRONAS.
