Microsoft pledges a historic $2.2 billion investment in Malaysia to boost AI and cloud computing infrastructure, aiming to drive inclusive economic growth and innovation.
2 May 2024 – Microsoft has announced a massive investment of $2.2 billion (equivalent to approximately RM10.5 billion) in Malaysia over the next four years to bolster the country’s digital transformation. This marks the largest investment the tech giant has made in Malaysia in its 32-year history in the country.
The investment will focus on developing artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing infrastructure, including the establishment of an AI center of excellence and providing AI training to around 200,000 Malaysians. Microsoft’s CEO, Satya Nadella, affirmed the commitment during his keynote speech in Kuala Lumpur, emphasizing the aim to drive inclusive economic growth and innovation across Malaysia. – ref: AFP
