Malaysia collaborates with US in combating cyber crime and money laundering

CYBERJAYA: Malaysia’s Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein represents the country to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with United States of America (US) on Assistance in the Field of Transnational Crime.

Hishammuddin said that the MoU allows both countries’ enforcement agencies can collaborate closely and provide support to each other in combating money laundering, terrorism financing, trafficking in persons, people smuggling and cyber crime. A joint working committee would be formed to monitor the collaboration between both parties, he added.

US was represented by Attorney General Eric Holder who is on a three-day visit to Malaysia starting yesterday. Holder said that the MoU also makes a new level in sharing the commitment to enhance the relationship between both parties.
