It can be prevented as long as you always stay alert when using the internet for any purposes including banking online. Here are some tips to help you to stay away from cyber crimes:

Stay clear of cyber fraud

  • Log in securely in the right website
  • Don’t ignore your device’s auto update prompt
  • Beware of FREE offers and think before you click

Guard yourself against malware and phishing

  • Install anti-virus/malware software
  • Download apps legitimately
  • Look out for spam messages
  • Think before clicking on external links
  • Enter your data in secure websites

Be alert while banking online

  • Make sure the website address is secure
  • Always check your Secret Word
  • Create a strong password
  • Reconfirm transactions via One-Time Password (OTP)
  • Always log out when you are done
  • Review your transaction records regularly

Avoid scam messages like these

  • You’ve won! But only after you pay
  • It sounds too good to be true
  • We’ll need your credit card number
  • Payment is via cash only
  • A limited opportunity that you cannot miss

Do not disclose your One-Time-Password (OTP)

  • Don’t respond to calls or SMS from unknown numbers
  • Don’t reveal your bank account information to unknown persons
  • Change your online banking password immediately if you suspect any suspicious online activity
  • If in doubt, contact our your bank’s call center
