Jan 8, 2014 (Wed): The recent data published by Gartner, Inc. reveals that Android operating system is on pace to surpass one billion users across all devices this year and over 75 percent of Android’s volumes will come from emerging markets by 2017. Gartner also projects that worldwide combined shipments of devices (PCs, tablets, ultramobiles and mobile phones) will reach 2.5 billion units this year, a 7.6 percent increase compared with 2013.
Mobile phones are projected to dominate overall device shipments, with 1.9 billion mobile phones shipped in 2014, followed by PCs (278 million units), tablets (263 million units) and ultramobiles (39 million units).
