Malaysia (July 16, 2013): Easy Taxi, a free mobile app that helps you to call a taxi with a single tap on your smartphone, has been launched in Malaysia about one month ago but limited for travelling within Kuala Lumpur city.
According to Easy Taxi Malaysia Managing Director Chan Heng Joon, the new start-up aims to generate 500,000 rides via the app in its first year of operations and generate revenue from taxi drivers who would pay a flat rate of just RM1 for each ride completed, the Bernama news agency reported. The report says the German Internet giant Rocket Internet has invested RM45 million into Easy Taxi. To date, Easy Taxi has secured a commanding network of 800 taxis in one month and 27,000 applications downloaded in Malaysia.
Besides Malaysia, Easy Taxi also present in 30 cities in 11 countries including Brazil, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Mexico, South Korea, Colombia, Venezuela and soon will be launched in Philippines, Thailand and Hong Kong.
