Malaysia’s Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak asked the Cabinet to review Section 114A to the Evidence Act 1950 after Malaysia’s first Internet Blackout day on 14 August 2012 but the Cabinet decided to retain the amendment.
Information, Communications and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Rais Yatim said the amendment is in line with the prime minister’s call to put people first. The decision was made on Wednesday after the Cabinet found the amendment had already passed through all the necessary procedures and is accepted as law now, Rais added.
