Women at SPX Express Redefine Malaysia’s Logistics Industry

SPX Express is championing gender inclusivity in Malaysia’s logistics industry by empowering women in leadership, safety, and frontline roles. Through structured training and career progression, SPX is fostering a diverse workforce where skill and dedication define success.

MALAYSIA, 12 March 2025 – Women are making remarkable strides in Malaysia’s logistics sector, and SPX Express (SPX) is at the forefront of fostering an inclusive workplace where talent and dedication take precedence over gender. From leading last-mile operations to ensuring workplace safety and even driving heavy-duty vehicles, women at SPX are redefining industry norms.

Driving Leadership in Last-Mile Logistics

For Nur Hidayah Tapri, a 42-year-old Last Mile Area Manager in Terengganu, stepping into the logistics industry at 27 was a challenge that fueled her determination. Overseeing five last-mile hubs, she has implemented efficient workflows, improved delivery rates, and mentored aspiring female leaders. “At SPX, I’ve grown into a leadership role with the right training and support, and now I’m committed to helping others do the same,” she shares.

Pioneering Workplace Safety Standards

As Senior Associate for Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) in the East Coast region, Norasmawani Mohd Napiah, 33, is setting new safety benchmarks across 34 SPX premises. She leads risk assessments, safety training, and compliance initiatives, proving that women are equally effective in decision-making. “At SPX, gender is not a barrier to leadership—what matters is skill, dedication, and expertise,” she asserts.

Breaking Stereotypes in Frontline Logistics

With 13 years of experience, Nor Ariesa Ramli, 43, stands out as the only female lorry driver in her team. Facing industry stereotypes with confidence, she ensures seamless deliveries while inspiring other women to enter the field. “Customers are often surprised to see a woman behind the wheel, but I take it as an opportunity to challenge expectations,” she says.

SPX’s Commitment to Gender Diversity

Under the leadership of Cheah Lee Sun, Head of SPX Express, the company has made significant strides in gender inclusivity, with the proportion of female couriers doubling since last year to 29% and an increase in women taking up leadership roles. “We believe in empowering individuals at every level of logistics through structured training, career progression, and a supportive work environment,” says Cheah.

By fostering a diverse and dynamic workforce, SPX Express is setting a new standard for inclusivity in Malaysia’s logistics industry, ensuring that talent and determination continue to drive its success.
