The recent survey conducted by VISA revealed that Indonesian spent as much as IDR4,850,000 (RM1,550) online for Christmas gifts last year. For the respondents aged from 35 to 55, married and with kids, they spent more than IDR5,320,000 (RM1,700).
VISA Indonesia pointed that there are more than 47 million Facebook users in the country which makes it #4 in the ranking of all Facebook statistics by country, just after US, Brazil and India. This number is one of the factors helping the growth of e-commerce in Indonesia, Ellyana Fuad, the President Director for Visa in Indonesia said.
VISA’s Ecommerce Consumer Monitor shows that eight out of ten Indonesians who like to shop online are very concern about the safety of online shopping. Ellyana also commented that the security is the most important factor in online transactions.
On other hand, the Indonesia’s Data ICT shows there were over 72 million Indonesians or 30 per cent of the Indonesia’s population accessed the Internet last year.
