Verifies Seller Background Before Making A Purchase

Sept 26, 2013 (Thu): The Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism (MDTCC) Ministry state director Wan Ahmad Uzir Wan Sulaiman said that the ministry received 485 complaints on online transactions from January to September of 2013, a 50 per cent increased if compared with last year, The Star reported.

Most of the complaints received were about the consumers cheated by unscrupulous sellers who do not list any information about themselves, he added. Ahmad also urged the public to verify the seller before proceeding with making payment. According to the ministry, 17.4 million people in Malaysia are involved in online transactions.
