Traveloka Finds Double-Digit Dates Driving Southeast Asia’s Travel Booking Surge

Traveloka data shows that double-digit dates like 1.1 and 11.11 have evolved into self-driven travel booking peaks across Southeast Asia, even without promotions. The company is now aligning its marketing strategy to capitalize on this behavior, driving significant transaction growth.

SINGAPORE, 1 MAY 2026 – Travel platform Traveloka has revealed that double-digit calendar dates are increasingly shaping travel booking behavior across Southeast Asia, effectively becoming a self-organized travel planning cycle among consumers.

Based on data collected between March and December 2025 across Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam, the company observed that website traffic surged by more than 20%, while transactions rose by nearly 25% during dates such as 1.1, 2.2, 3.3, 11.11, and 12.12 compared to surrounding days.

Notably, even in the absence of promotional campaigns, these dates continued to generate strong organic demand. Markets like Malaysia and Indonesia recorded close to 10% increases in both traffic and transactions, while Singapore saw a steady 5% uplift. The trend suggests that consumers now inherently associate these numerically significant dates with travel planning opportunities, a behavior influenced by the widespread popularity of retail events such as Singles’ Day.

In response, Traveloka has restructured its 2026 marketing calendar to include more frequent campaigns aligned with these dates, particularly smaller-numbered events such as 1.1 and 2.2. The strategy has already delivered strong results, with transaction value growing by up to 70% in markets including Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Vietnam also recorded a historic high in bookings during the 3.3 sales period.

Travel patterns during these campaigns highlight a strong preference among Southeast Asian travelers for East Asian destinations early in the year. Popular routes include Japan, Taiwan, and Mainland China, driven by seasonal attractions such as cherry blossom viewing and Lunar New Year travel. As the year progresses, outbound travel demand diversifies, with increased interest in long-haul destinations including Europe, Australia, and the Middle East.

The findings also reveal evolving travel windows, with peak booking periods shifting from East Asia-focused trips between March and June to broader global travel preferences towards the year-end holiday season.

To capitalize on these insights, Traveloka is launching its flagship Traveloka 5.5 EPIC Sale from 4 to 8 May 2026, offering discounts of up to 80% on flights, accommodations, and attractions across the region.
