Rebecca PY MALAYSIA, 8 SEPTEMBER 2026 – Enterprise networking provider TPLink Distribution Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (TP-Link Malaysia) has entered into a three-year Memorandum of Understanding with New Era University College to foster industry-ready networking professionals across the country.
This collaboration seeks to narrow the gap between academic curricula and rapidly shifting industry standards by integrating real-world networking capabilities, professional certification frameworks, and direct practical exposure into the higher education experience.
Under this initiative, TP-Link Malaysia will deploy its Omada enterprise networking infrastructure within the teaching facilities at New Era University College. Students will gain direct technical experience on enterprise-grade hardware designed to mimic live business networks. The partnership incorporates specialized technical workshops, knowledge exchange sessions, and direct access to the Omada Certified Network Administrator (OCNA) certification track.
To help bridge the gap between graduation and employment, students will also be granted access to industrial training placements and structured internship programs at TP-Link Malaysia.
Hugo Cai, Regional Director of TP-Link Malaysia, noted that accelerating digital transformation initiatives across industries has driven demand for skilled professionals who can maintain and scale modern technology infrastructure. He emphasized that close cooperation between academia and private industry remains essential to ensuring student skills match real-world operational demands.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Ang Yang Yi, Dean of the Faculty of Computing and Innovative Technology at New Era University College, stated that partnering with technology leaders allows the institution to enrich academic knowledge with real-world applications and prepare graduates for a technology-driven economy.
Both organizations plan to explore additional cooperative frameworks covering technical research projects, knowledge exchanges, and joint initiatives connecting academic researchers with active industry engineers.
This agreement adds to TP-Link Malaysia’s expanding educational footprint, which already includes enterprise networking partnerships with institutions such as Universiti Malaya, Universiti Teknologi MARA, and Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia. In 2025 alone, approximately 500 local university students completed training under the OCNA certification pathway.
