MALAYSIA, 25 SEPTEMBER 2026 – TPLink Distribution Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (TP-Link Malaysia) is expanding its footprint in the higher education sector through a new three-year strategic partnership with Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT).
Formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the collaboration aims to equip the next generation of technology professionals with practical, industry-relevant enterprise networking competencies before they enter the workforce.
Under the agreement, TP-Link Malaysia will deploy its proprietary Omada enterprise networking solutions within the learning environment at TAR UMT. This initiative provides students with direct, hands-on experience operating networking infrastructure and technologies deployed across real-world enterprise environments.
In addition to practical infrastructure exposure, the collaboration offers TAR UMT students access to technical workshops, industry knowledge-sharing sessions, and a dedicated pathway toward the Omada Certified Network Administrator (OCNA) certification. Beyond classroom learning, students will gain access to structured internship and industrial training opportunities with TP-Link Malaysia, allowing them to apply academic theory in active corporate environments.
Cai Zhenbiao (Hugo Cai), Regional Director of TP-Link Malaysia, emphasized that preparing technology talent must begin long before graduation. By embedding industry exposure into higher education, students develop a grounded understanding of how enterprise technologies evolve and function in real-world scenarios. He noted that the collaboration reflects a shared goal of narrowing the gap between industry demands and academic learning.
Ts Lim Shen Huoy, Dean of the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology at TAR UMT, stated that the partnership supports the institution’s mission to empower students to innovate in a shifting digital landscape. Direct access to enterprise-grade systems and globally recognized credentials ensures graduates enter the job market as agile, highly competent specialists. Moving forward, both organizations plan to explore broader opportunities in research, technical knowledge exchange, faculty engagement, and joint industry-academia initiatives.
The addition of TAR UMT strengthens TP-Link Malaysia’s academic network, which already includes partnerships with Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), and New Era University College. Together, these initiatives build a talent pipeline essential for supporting the digital infrastructure of Malaysia.
