Success at the 2nd China-ASEAN Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition in Jakarta

The 2nd China-ASEAN Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition concluded successfully in Jakarta, fostering dialogue and cooperation in scientific and technological innovation between ASEAN countries and China. With a focus on the digital economy, the competition showcased outstanding projects from across the region, with top winners awarded in both the Team and Enterprise Groups.


19 May 2024 – The final round of the 2nd China-ASEAN Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition (CAIEC) concluded on May 15, 2024, in Jakarta, Indonesia’s capital, marking a successful event co-hosted by China’s Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) and the ASEAN Secretariat.

The competition, supported by various organizations including the ASEAN Committee on Science, Technology and Innovation (COSTI), aimed to enhance dialogue and cooperation in scientific and technological innovation between ASEAN countries and China, as part of the China-ASEAN Year of People-to-People Exchanges. With a focus on the digital economy under the theme “Digital Empowerment for a Shared Future”, the event attracted over 280 projects from universities, research institutions, and companies across ASEAN countries and China.

Twenty outstanding innovation and entrepreneurship projects from China and ASEAN nations, including Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Brunei, advanced to the final round. Divided into the Team and Enterprise Groups, participants showcased their projects through an innovative “7+5” roadshow and defense format, with presentations followed by Q&A sessions. The top three winners in both groups were awarded, alongside seven Creative Stars recognized for their innovative excellence.
