Malaysia’s first at-home AI-powered gut microbiome test, SpaceGut, has already helped over 500 users gain personalised insights into digestive health and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) management. By mapping gut bacteria and tailoring diet recommendations, the tool offers a science-backed approach to restoring balance and reducing symptoms.

MALAYSIA, 10 SEPTEMBER 2025 – SpaceGut, Malaysia’s first AI-powered at-home gut microbiome test kit, is changing how Malaysians approach digestive wellness and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). Since its launch just 10 months ago, more than 500 individuals have used the breakthrough tool to gain personalised insights and solutions for gut health, addressing issues such as abdominal pain, bloating, and irregular bowel habits.

IBS affects an estimated 14% of Malaysians, often leading to restrictive diets that worsen nutritional gaps. Research shows that IBS arises from complex interactions between gut microbiota, the immune system, and the nervous system, underscoring the importance of tailored, evidence-based solutions.

SpaceGut’s AI-driven platform analyses thousands of bacterial species to reveal each individual’s unique gut composition. From this, it extracts over 30 health metrics such as microbiome diversity, nutrient digestion, and sensitivities to gluten and lactose. Based on these findings, more than 400 foods are scored to provide precise dietary recommendations that nourish beneficial bacteria while limiting those linked to inflammation and imbalance.

Backed by a database of over 50,000 samples and 90 research studies, including trials on AI-assisted personalised diets, SpaceGut provides evidence-based feedback to help individuals manage IBS symptoms more effectively.

“IBS affects millions of people worldwide, yet solutions are often generic and inconsistent. SpaceGut uses AI-powered analysis to give personalised insights, helping people understand their digestive needs and make informed choices for long-term well-being,” said Datuk Tony Wong, Founder of SpaceGut.

The company aims to make gut health testing more accessible, empowering Malaysians to restore balance, boost immunity, and reduce the burden of digestive conditions.
