Sophos has launched Workspace Protection, a browser-centric security solution designed to secure hybrid workforces and govern the use of AI and emerging technologies. The platform reduces complexity by embedding security directly into the workspace, offering organizations greater visibility, control, and protection across modern work environments.
MALAYSIA, 23 JANUARY 2026 – Sophos has announced the launch of Sophos Workspace Protection, expanding its cybersecurity portfolio to help organizations secure hybrid work environments and govern the use of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence. Built around the Sophos Protected Browser powered by Island, the solution delivers a unified, workspace-centric approach to protecting applications, data, users, and guests wherever work takes place.
As hybrid work, SaaS adoption, and AI tools continue to expand the modern workspace, traditional security models relying on multiple SASE and SSE solutions have increased cost and operational complexity while leaving visibility gaps. Sophos Workspace Protection addresses these challenges by securing the workspace directly, eliminating the need to route traffic through centralized infrastructure and reducing deployment and management overhead.
At the core of the solution is the Sophos Protected Browser, a Chromium-based enterprise browser integrated with the Sophos Central platform. With the majority of modern work now occurring within browsers, the protected browser provides organizations with direct visibility and control over application access, data handling, and internet usage without disrupting productivity. Security policies are enforced at the workspace level, allowing protections to follow users across corporate and remote environments.
The solution also enables organizations to manage risks associated with Shadow IT and Shadow AI, as employees increasingly adopt generative AI tools ahead of formal governance policies. By delivering granular visibility and policy enforcement within the workspace, Sophos Workspace Protection helps organizations assess risk, control data exposure, and ensure the responsible use of AI across distributed workforces.
Sophos Workspace Protection comprises a modular suite of integrated components, including Sophos ZTNA for secure access to private applications, Sophos DNS Protection for enhanced web and phishing defense, and an Email Monitoring System that strengthens protection for cloud-based email platforms. Together, these components provide comprehensive security for hybrid work while supporting flexible access for contractors, partners, and remote teams.
Sophos said the new offering builds on its established endpoint and network security capabilities, combining them with Island’s enterprise browser technology to simplify deployment and improve governance of applications and data. Sophos Workspace Protection will be available to customers and partners starting February 2026.
