Rebecca PY MALAYSIA, 12 AUGUST 2026 – Sophos, a global cybersecurity provider, has announced a new partnership with OpenAI to deliver frontier AI models directly to managed service providers (MSPs) through Sophos Fusion, its AI-native Cybersecurity Defense System. The initiative aims to provide channel partners with a unified framework for delivering advanced AI security, enabling them to construct new recurring service models around automated threat detection, investigation, and remediation.
Built on a single open architecture, Sophos Fusion unifies control points across endpoint, network, email, cloud, identity, and security operations. By integrating OpenAI’s frontier capabilities directly into this connected ecosystem, MSPs can operationalize artificial intelligence within their existing workflows rather than deploying standalone point solutions.
In tandem with strengthening active defenses, Sophos is expanding its portfolio to protect corporate AI deployments. Through Sophos AI Defense, scheduled for early access in August 2026, organizations gain visibility into employee AI usage and shadow AI tools, enforce compliance policies, and govern sensitive data handling across external AI models. The OpenAI collaboration will further extend these protections to secure AI workloads and enterprise data assets.
The announcement deepens an existing collaboration established through the OpenAI Daybreak Cyber Partner Program, which focuses on developing practical, governed tools for security practitioners. John Peterson, Chief Technology Officer at Sophos, emphasized that pairing OpenAI’s models with Sophos’s global channel network of over 25,000 partners—including more than 7,000 MSPs—creates the reach required to deliver scalable AI protection to businesses worldwide.
