Singles Day Becomes Busiest Shopping Day in China

Nov 13, 2013 (Wed): Alibaba reported that consumers have spent RMB 35 billion (RM18.37 billion) at its ecommerce platforms – Tmall and Taobao on the “Singles’ Day”. November 11 was proclaimed as “Single’s Day” because of the number of ones in the date, with sellers promoting discounts to the nation’s singletons as well as price-sensitive buyers.
