CHINA: Sina Corp, an online media company serving China and the global Chinese communities will launch its online payment service namely WeiboPay in April this year to translate its heavy web traffic into revenue, the China Daily reported. WeiboPay will be a similar payment service like Alipay.
According to Hong Lizhou, the general manager at Sina Corp, they have more than 500 million registered users on their micro-blogging service and each user averagely spends 90 minutes per day on the platform. Hong added that about 28 per cent of active users search for product information via Weibo and 43 per cent tend to share their preferred brands online.
