Shopee achieves top safety rating in e-commerce, alongside Amazon and Lazada, while Facebook sees a surge in reported scams, underscoring the need for enhanced safety measures and collaborative efforts to combat online fraud effectively.
13 April 2024 – Shopee has emerged as a top performer in the E-commerce Marketplace Transaction Safety Ratings (TSR), achieving a full four ticks alongside industry giants like Amazon, Lazada, and Qoo10. On the contrary, Facebook’s safety rating remains at the bottom, with nearly half of all reported e-commerce scams in 2023 occurring on its platform, highlighting significant challenges in combating fraudulent activities.
The Inter-Ministry Committee on Scams recently published the 2024 edition of the TSR, evaluating major e-commerce platforms based on anti-scam features such as user verification. Shopee’s enhanced safety measures, including full user verification against government-issued documentation for all sellers, contributed to its improved rating and a notable decrease in reported e-commerce scams on the platform. – ref: The Strait Time
