Security Overload: 72% of Companies Struggle with Cyber Complexity Amidst Vendor Fragmentation, Says Kaspersky

A new global report by Kaspersky reveals that 72% of organisations still rely on multi-vendor cybersecurity ecosystems, despite the financial strain, operational inefficiencies, and threat response delays caused by fragmented solutions. However, a major shift toward consolidation is underway, as 86% plan to unify their security tools for better visibility, cost savings, and streamlined protection.

MALAYSIA, 5 AUGUST 2025 – A majority of organisations (72%) continue to operate with multiple cybersecurity vendors, despite growing evidence that fragmented security environments create more problems than they solve. According to new research by global cybersecurity firm Kaspersky, this approach is causing significant operational complexity, budget overruns, and limited threat visibility.

The study, titled “Improving Resilience: Cybersecurity Through System Immunity”, surveyed organisations across Russia, Europe, Latin America, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Turkey, and Africa. It found that nearly half (43%) of cybersecurity professionals believe their current multi-vendor setups are too complex and time-consuming to manage, making it difficult to respond swiftly to emerging threats.

The operational burden is matched by financial strain. About 42% of businesses reported budget overruns due to overlapping security solutions, while 41% struggle to automate processes due to incompatible tools. As a result, many teams rely on manual operations, increasing the risk of human error. Additionally, 39% experience poor threat visibility due to inconsistent data across different systems.

Despite these inefficiencies, most companies remain cautious about switching to a single-vendor approach—only 28% have fully adopted unified security solutions. However, this reluctance is changing. An overwhelming 86% of firms are moving toward consolidation, with one-third (33%) already merging tools into unified platforms and another 53% planning to do so within two years.

“The data shows that multi-vendor environments are often the result of organic growth rather than deliberate strategy,” said Ilya Markelov, Head of Unified Platform Product Line at Kaspersky. “While diversity can offer resilience, unmanaged complexity introduces blind spots and operational drag.”

To address these challenges, Kaspersky recommends adopting centralised, automated platforms such as Kaspersky Next XDR Expert, which uses machine learning to correlate data from multiple sources, enhance threat detection, and automate response. With out-of-the-box integrations and streamlined case management, such solutions aim to make cybersecurity simpler, smarter, and more effective.
