MALAYSIA, 19 AUGUST 2026 – Sarawak Metro Sdn Bhd, the state-owned entity developing and operating the Kuching Urban Transportation System project, has announced a partnership with Malaysian payment solutions provider Revenue Group Berhad to implement payment tokenization technology in its official mobile application.
The collaboration enables public transit passengers to secure their credit cards and selected e-wallets inside the Sarawak Metro mobile app through digital tokens, eliminating the need to re-enter payment information for individual trip purchases. In addition, the integration supports MyDebit Card Not Present transactions, allowing local debit cardholders to complete digital fare payments directly within the application.
Tokenization replaces sensitive financial data, such as primary account numbers, with unique digital identifiers. The process ensures that confidential card details are never stored or transmitted in raw form, significantly reducing exposure to potential fraud while simplifying the checkout experience for commuters.
The digital payment initiative forms part of the broader technological framework for the Kuching Urban Transportation System, which aims to alleviate traffic congestion in Greater Kuching through modern public transit alternatives. Sarawak Metro Chief Executive Officer Ts. Mazli Mustaffa noted that providing a seamless and secure payment experience is a key milestone in delivering smart, passenger-centric mobility to the state.
