With the theme “Discover What’s Possible,” the event spotlighted the latest innovations in industrial technology, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), cloud-based manufacturing execution systems (MES), and cybersecurity, while addressing key challenges and trends in manufacturing.
The ROKLive event served as a platform for customers and partners to explore transformative technologies like AI, Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality (AR/VR), and robotics, understanding how these innovations can revolutionize their businesses. Key topics discussed during the event included sustainability, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies in digital transformation. High-level knowledge sharing took place through keynote speeches and forums, with Marcelo Tarkieltaub, regional director, Southeast Asia for Rockwell Automation, delivering a keynote on the future of automation. Amidst global challenges like inflation and supply chain disruptions, the manufacturing industry is increasingly turning to technology to enhance productivity, address skilled labor shortages, and strengthen cybersecurity measures. According to Rockwell Automation’s latest State of Smart Manufacturing Report, there’s a growing focus on AI and machine learning among manufacturers, with significant investments being made in automation and digitalization. In the region, 48% of manufacturers are increasing automation, with 44% introducing AI and machine learning.
The manufacturing sector in Malaysia reached a sales value of RM1.8 trillion (429 billion USD) in 2023, according to the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DoSM), with an expected compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.05% from 2024 to 2028. Coupled with the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030), designed to address domestic manufacturing challenges, Malaysia aims to revitalize its manufacturing sector by transforming 3,000 smart factories and promoting a tech-forward culture to develop high-skilled jobs.
