Razorpay Curlec’s integration with PayPal is enabling Malaysian SMEs to accept cross-border payments more efficiently amid a RM6.8 billion surge in digital exports. The unified platform aims to reduce payment friction and support international expansion as new trade agreements open global opportunities.

MALAYSIA, 31 JANUARY 2026 – Malaysia’s digital exports surged by a record RM6.8 billion (USD 1.7 billion) between 2024 and the first half of 2025, as Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs intensify efforts to tap into rising global demand. Accounting for 97.2% of all business establishments and employing nearly half of the national workforce, SMEs are emerging as the backbone of this export growth, although many continue to face barriers when expanding internationally.

Despite strong domestic digital adoption, challenges such as cross-border payment complexity, higher transaction costs, settlement delays, and trust issues with overseas buyers have slowed SME expansion beyond local markets. To address these gaps, Razorpay Curlec has highlighted its integration with PayPal, enabling Malaysian businesses to accept international payments more seamlessly through a single, unified platform.

Since its beta launch in 2025, the integration has processed tens of thousands in gross merchandise value, reflecting early uptake among merchants seeking simplified cross-border payment capabilities. The timing aligns with favourable trade developments, including the United Kingdom’s entry into the CPTPP and the Malaysia–United States Agreement on Reciprocal Trade, both of which are expected to lower barriers and improve market access for Malaysian exporters.

Through the integration, merchants can accept payments via PayPal in more than 100 currencies, while supporting recurring and direct debit transactions with automated mandate management. Businesses also retain access to local payment options such as FPX online banking, credit and debit cards, and popular e-wallets including Touch ’n Go, GrabPay, and Boost, ensuring continuity for domestic customers.

All transactions are managed through Razorpay Curlec’s unified dashboard, providing real-time visibility into payments, transfers, invoices, APIs, and performance insights. This consolidated approach reduces the need for multiple integrations, simplifies compliance, and enhances cash flow transparency across markets, supporting SMEs as they scale globally.
