MALAYSIA, 20 AUGUST 2026 – More than 3,500 policymakers, investors, technology leaders, and practitioners convened at the AI Malaysia Takeover 2026 (AIMTO_26) to transition public interest in artificial intelligence into practical technical capabilities.
During the event, Minister of Digital YB Gobind Singh Deo officially unveiled the new Rakyat Digital portal, designed to support national digital initiatives. The conference also hosted discussions featuring key ecosystem figures, including representatives from Microsoft, Global AI Village, Supabase, 500 Global, and YTL AI Labs, focusing on scaling Malaysia AI economy and regional competitiveness.
A core component of the gathering was the Learn-A-Thon, which engaged over 1,000 participants ranging from beginner enthusiasts to software developers. The scale of the hands-on session earned official recognition from the Malaysia Book of Records for the largest artificial intelligence Learn-A-Thon in the country.
To support participant projects, YTL AI Labs provided access to ILMUchat, a sovereign AI platform designed to process local context. Utilizing the infrastructure, teams developed functional AI agents, web applications, traffic simulation tools, and knowledge databases. Participants received an additional month of platform access to continue project development.
To sustain momentum following the conference, YTL AI Labs announced a three-month builder program in partnership with developer network KrackedDevs. The follow-up initiative will provide Learn-A-Thon participants with continued access to ILMUchat to refine and deploy the AI solutions created during the event.
