OpenSys has launched the Horizon Series, Malaysia’s first locally designed cash recycling self-service banking platform, developed in collaboration with OKI. The modular platform aims to help banks modernise branch operations, optimise cash economics and expand digital self-service capabilities.
MALAYSIA, 27 JANUARY 2026 – OpenSys (M) Berhad has announced the launch of the Horizon Series, a next-generation self-service banking platform developed through a strategic collaboration between its subsidiary, OpenSys Technologies Sdn Bhd, and Japan-based Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd (OKI). The launch coincided with a partnership signing ceremony held at the Connexion Conference & Event Centre in Bangsar South City.
The Horizon Series is the first cash recycling self-service banking platform designed and manufactured in Malaysia by OpenSys Technologies, incorporating OKI’s globally proven cash recycling module. The unified platform combines technologies from both companies to address the evolving needs of modern branch banking, where automation, cost efficiency and regulatory resilience are increasingly critical.
Designed to consolidate multiple self-service functions into a single enterprise-grade platform, the Horizon Series enables banks to modernise branch operations, optimise cash utilisation and expand service availability without adding operational complexity. Its cash recycling capability allows deposited cash to be reused for withdrawals, reducing idle cash holdings, lowering cash-in-transit and insurance costs, and decreasing replenishment frequency.
Beyond cash handling, the Horizon Series is built as a modular and upgradeable platform. Banks can initially deploy core services and later activate additional capabilities such as cheque deposit, instant card issuance, biometric authentication, payments and digital service integration without replacing hardware. This approach extends asset lifespan, reduces long-term capital expenditure and supports more predictable platform economics.
The platform also supports the transformation of self-service terminals into interactive service touchpoints, enabling more complex transactions through digital services, AI-enabled features and remote assistance. Security and compliance are embedded across hardware and software layers, with support for industry certifications, anti-skimming measures, transaction imaging, secure cash handling and biometric authentication for regulated banking environments.
The Horizon Series is scheduled for commercial availability from January 2026, with configurations tailored to regional regulatory, operational and market requirements.
