SINGAPORE, 2 SEPTEMBER 2026 – OceanBase has officially been named the top distributed transactional database vendor in Asia and Oceania based on 2025 revenue, according to the newly released Omdia report, Distributed Transactional Database in Asia & Oceania – 2026. Capturing a 15.5% market share, OceanBase outpaced major global cloud service providers, underscoring its market leadership in supporting mission-critical workloads across the region.
The Omdia report highlights a rapidly expanding market driven by complex IT environments and the ongoing modernization of enterprise applications. Total spending in the Asia and Oceania distributed transactional database sector reached $902.4 million in 2025 and is projected to reach $1.1 billion in 2026. With a compound annual growth rate of 19.3%, the market is expected to expand to $1.8 billion by 2029.
“OceanBase’s top ranking in this dynamic and high-growth market is a testament to our commitment to delivering industry-leading distributed database technology,” said Evan Yang, CEO of OceanBase. “As enterprises across Asia and Oceania modernize their infrastructure and embrace AI-driven innovation, they require a database that combines high performance, strong consistency, and seamless scalability. We are proud to be the trusted choice for leading enterprises navigating this transformation.”
Omdia attributes OceanBase’s market success to strong domestic performance alongside aggressive expansion in key regional markets. The platform currently powers high-traffic regional services including GCash, TNG Digital, Lalamove, and Trip.com, handling massive transaction volumes while maintaining low latency and high availability. Beyond digital-native apps, traditional banking institutions across Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Laos are adopting OceanBase to upgrade legacy core business systems.
To address global multi-cloud adoption trends, OceanBase delivers a multi-cloud architecture that allows clients to run a unified database across hybrid environments without vendor lock-in. The company operates across more than 240 availability zones in over 60 geographic regions, supporting six major public cloud infrastructures including Amazon Web Services, where it earned the AWS China Annual Partner Award in May 2026.
Looking ahead, OceanBase is capitalizing on AI integration, transitioning databases from passive systems of record into active intelligence engines. Following the June launch of the OceanBase AI Database, the vendor enables organizations to manage multimodal data and supply real-time context to AI agents. OceanBase now serves over 4,000 global customers, including more than 100 fintech clients and 20 major e-wallet providers serving 1.3 billion end-users.
