MALAYSIA, 10 AUGUST 2026 – NTT DATA, a global provider of AI, digital business and technology services, has announced the launch of NTT DATA AI for Insurance, a Service-as-Software solution that converts complex core insurance workflows into governed, repeatable services powered by agentic AI.
The offering is built specifically for highly regulated insurance environments, combining configurable AI agents, insurance-specific data models, workflow orchestration and enterprise-grade governance. The goal is to maintain auditability, enforce regulatory guardrails and preserve human oversight even as carriers automate more of their operations.
NTT DATA AI for Insurance is designed to help insurers modernize underwriting, claims processing, customer service and other core functions while lifting productivity across the enterprise. It runs on NTT DATA AIVista, the company’s AI-native product platform, pairing a prebuilt insurance foundation with configurable and customizable elements. This structure is intended to allow rapid deployment while still adapting to each carrier’s specific products, processes, operating model and regulatory obligations.
The solution is built for open integration with carriers’ existing systems and technology environments, so insurers can adopt AI capabilities without being locked into a single core system. Its model-routing functionality similarly helps carriers avoid dependence on any one foundation model.
Bruno Abril, Global Lead for the Insurance Industry at NTT DATA, Inc., said the sector is grounded in human judgment around risk assessment, fair pricing and honoring commitments when claims arise. He explained that the new solution is meant to reinforce that responsibility by giving insurers intelligent systems operating within a governed layer, enabling enterprise-scale transformation that satisfies the governance standards regulators and boards expect.
Insurance carriers face mounting pressure to expand underwriting capacity, speed up claims and service processing, cut loss ratios and sharpen risk selection, all while governance expectations continue to rise. According to NTT DATA’s 2026 Global AI Report: A Playbook for AI Leaders in Insurance, two-thirds of insurers want to use AI in front-office interactions, while 86% support AI use in back- and mid-office workflows, yet most have not industrialized agentic AI across their core operations. NTT DATA positions its new offering as a direct response to that gap.
Prashant Hinge, Chief Information Officer at MSIG USA, noted that the industry now generates unprecedented volumes of data, but that better outcomes hinge on how effectively that information gets translated into action. He added that AI can help insurers flag high-risk claims earlier, improve consistency across the claims process, and give claims professionals sharper insights for faster, better-informed decisions.
NTT DATA AI for Insurance offers a comprehensive agentic architecture featuring several core components. These include specialized models and agents trained on carrier and domain-specific data to boost reliability, accuracy and cost-effectiveness, alongside built-in guardrails that embed governance into every AI agent decision to support deterministic, auditable outcomes.
The platform also features an AI-native knowledge base and a proprietary insurance data genome that integrate agents into carriers’ existing systems, data and processes, giving agents the context needed to interpret submissions, policies, claims and regulatory requirements. Prebuilt, configurable AI agents are designed to enable deployment into underwriting, claims and service workflows up to three times faster, while cognitive and event-driven orchestration coordinates agents, people, systems and processes according to each carrier’s operating needs.
NTT DATA has been recognized as a leader in the HFS Horizons: Agentic Services, 2026 Research Report, as well as in the ISG Provider Lens for Insurance Services covering Strategic Capabilities in Insurance GenAI and Agentic AI Services. The company currently serves 10 of the world’s 25 largest insurers, operates 16 delivery centers with dedicated insurance expertise, and employs more than 12,000 insurance specialists globally.
