MYStartup, in collaboration with Watchtower and Friends, has launched the fourth cohort of its Pre-Accelerator programme for early-stage, technology-focused startups, accepting applications until June 23, 2024. The programme offers comprehensive training, mentorship, and potential investment opportunities to accelerate startup growth.

19 June 2024 – MYStartup, in collaboration with Malaysian startup accelerator Watchtower and Friends (WTF), has officially launched the application process for the fourth cohort of the MYStartup Pre-Accelerator programme. This initiative, focused on pre-seed and early-stage startups with technology-driven solutions, is now accepting applications until June 23, 2024.

The programme, set to run from June to September 2024, aims to accelerate the development and growth of selected startups through a comprehensive, tailored curriculum. Participants will benefit from world-class mentorship and an outcome-based learning experience. The top five startups from this cohort will qualify for an intensive fundraising accelerator programme, offering additional support beyond the initial pre-accelerator phase.

Over the course of four months, the MYStartup Pre-Accelerator Cohort 4 will provide participants with three sessions per week, each lasting three hours. The curriculum covers crucial topics essential for startup success:

  • Week 1: Founders’ Foundations – Aligning co-founder goals, crafting mission and vision statements, and implementing OKRs.
  • Week 2: Business Model Canvas – Developing robust business models, customer profiling, and market analysis.
  • Week 3: Minimum Viable Product (MVP) – Designing MVPs, specifying resources, and planning launch roadmaps.
  • Week 4: Market Validation – Conducting validation research, gathering user feedback, and iterating MVPs.
  • Week 5: Early-stage Fundamentals – Exploring valuations, funding options, legal documents, and pitching techniques.
  • Week 6: ESG for Startups – Understanding Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), governance, and aligning startups with SDGs.

Initiated by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) and led by MYStartup, the pre-accelerator programme is a crucial component of Malaysia’s startup ecosystem. It aims to bridge the gap between innovative ideas and viable businesses, promoting a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation.

The success of previous cohorts underscores the programme’s impact. For instance, Deepsight, a previous participant, secured a RM100,000 grant, launched products on Google Play and the App Store, and established strategic partnerships. Other startups like Rabt, PropMoth, and PyceHub are negotiating potential investments totaling approximately RM1.5 million.

The MYStartup Pre-Accelerator programme continues to foster the growth of early-stage startups, equipping them with the necessary tools and knowledge to succeed in the competitive market.
