MYDCF Biz Day 2024 Boosts Malaysia’s Ambition as Southeast Asia’s Digital Creative Powerhouse

The Malaysia Digital Content Festival (MYDCF) Biz Day 2024 highlighted Malaysia’s ambition to become a leading digital creative hub by 2030, featuring international collaborations and the prestigious SEA Awards recognizing digital content creators across Southeast Asia. The event attracted over 1,000 participants and solidified Malaysia’s influence in the region’s digital content industry.


3 October 2024 – The Malaysia Digital Content Festival (MYDCF) Biz Day 2024, a premier event showcasing innovation in animation, digital games, XR, the metaverse, and creative technology, successfully brought together key industry leaders. Over three dynamic days, the festival featured workshops, business meetings, and international collaborations, reinforcing Malaysia’s position as a growing digital creative hub in the region.

The event, inaugurated by Malaysia’s Minister of Digital, YB Tuan Gobind Singh Deo, and MDEC Chairman YB Tuan Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh, underscored the country’s aspirations to become a regional leader in digital content creation by 2030. Attracting over 1,000 participants from nations including South Korea, India, China, and Japan, MYDCF 2024 served as a platform for fostering innovation and collaboration across borders. More than 100 prominent speakers from North America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region contributed to a global exchange of ideas.

One of the key highlights of MYDCF 2024 was the highly anticipated SEA Awards 2024, which celebrated the best digital content creators across Southeast Asia. The awards recognized achievements in animation, digital content, and gaming, with over 300 submissions from 10 countries, showcasing the region’s vibrant and diverse talent pool. The event solidified Malaysia’s growing influence in the digital creative space.

The SEA Awards 2024 encompassed three major categories:

  1. SEA Game Awards – Featuring 107 submissions from across Southeast Asia, the awards celebrated outstanding achievements in gaming across 13 categories. A standout winner was Indonesia’s Toge Productions, which won both Best Audio Design and Best Game Design.
  2. SEA Kre8tif! Awards – With 147 regional submissions, the awards honored excellence in animation and creative content. Rawr Pictures’ “The Muralz—Year of the Flying Dragon” swept multiple categories, including Best Audio Design and Best Animation Motion Graphics.
  3. 26th DigiCon6 Asia Malaysia Circuit – This year, 49 submissions competed, with three awards spotlighting exceptional Malaysian creators for their innovative storytelling and creativity.

The SEA Awards 2024 recognized a total of 31 winners, showcasing the immense potential of Southeast Asia’s digital creative industries. Supported by strategic partnerships and government backing, Malaysia, through initiatives like MYDCF Biz Day 2024, remains committed to advancing the digital content ecosystem and leading the region in creativity and innovation.
