KUALA LUMPUR, 4 July 2023 – Mranti, the Malaysian Research Accelerator for Technology & Innovation, has announced a strategic partnership with pitchIN to revolutionize the investment landscape for startups and spinoffs in Malaysia. Through this collaboration, startups and spinoffs will have the opportunity to raise investments using pitchIN’s robust platform while receiving guidance and support from Mranti during their fundraising journey. The collaboration aims to establish regulated alternative financing and investments as the preferred option for businesses and investors in Malaysia, as alternative financing surpassed venture capital funding in 2022, raising RM1.7 billion compared to RM1.3 billion from venture funding.

MRANTI’s CEO, Dzuleira Abu Bakar, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating that it will pave the way for a vibrant and dynamic innovation environment. By adding value to the growth development cycle of startups, Mranti aims to increase their value and impact. The collaboration is expected to transform the investment landscape, democratize access to capital, and drive the growth of startups and spinoffs in Malaysia.

Fundraising Accelerator (FA) by pitchIN, a specialized program designed to assist founders in securing external funding, will play a key role in this partnership. FA equips founders with the necessary techniques and knowledge to effectively raise capital, providing comprehensive learning on the intricacies of fundraising. The program, launched in November 2021, has successfully completed six cohorts and expanded to Kuala Lumpur, Penang, and Kuching in Sarawak.

Sam Shafie, CEO of pitchIN, expressed enthusiasm about working with Mranti on the program, highlighting the essential knowledge and intricacies of fundraising that FA imparts to participants. Startups require capital for growth and expansion, and pitchIN’s experience in equity crowdfunding has demonstrated the benefits of learning about key areas such as company valuation, legal aspects, due diligence, deal structuring, and funding sources. Participants in the FA cohorts also receive specialized fundraising advice and preferential access to pitchIN’s equity crowdfunding expertise.

Applications for the Funding Accelerator Program, taking place from July 24-26, are now open, with a deadline for submissions on July 17.
