Malaysia’s MR. ROBOT has raised US$5 million to accelerate the development of embodied AI for real-world commercial environments. The funding will support expansion of robotics deployments across retail and logistics sectors in Southeast Asia.
MALAYSIA, 28 APRIL 2026 – Malaysia-based robotics and artificial intelligence company MR. ROBOT has secured US$5 million in strategic funding from MR D.I.Y. International, Agibot and The Hub’s Investment Group to accelerate the development of embodied AI technologies for retail and commercial environments.
Founded by Edwin Yap, the company is positioning itself at the forefront of a new wave of robotics innovation focused on real-world applications. Moving beyond traditional factory-based automation, MR. ROBOT is deploying intelligent machines into dynamic environments such as supermarkets, warehouses and service operations.
The company is building an integrated ecosystem that combines robot training environments, data collection systems and AI models. This enables robots to learn directly from live operational settings and continuously improve performance through real-time data.
Its solutions are designed to address increasing pressures in the retail and logistics industries, including labour shortages, rising operational costs and growing customer service expectations. Current pilot programmes involve service robots performing tasks such as customer assistance, food service support, shelf replenishment, autonomous goods movement and store monitoring.
By embedding artificial intelligence into physical machines capable of interacting with their surroundings, MR. ROBOT aims to redefine how businesses operate in commercial spaces. The newly secured funding will be used to expand robotics research and AI development, strengthen training and data infrastructure, scale pilot deployments, and develop regional engineering talent.
Following the investment, the company plans to accelerate product development and expand its presence across Southeast Asia, working closely with retail and logistics partners to bring embodied AI solutions into everyday operations.
