Mizuho Bank has deployed the Boomi Enterprise Platform to simplify ISO 20022 compliance and modernize its payments infrastructure across Asia Pacific. The initiative streamlines customer onboarding, reduces operational complexity, and positions the bank for long-term digital scalability.

MALAYSIA, 25 NOVEMBER 2025 – Boomi, a global leader in AI-driven automation, has announced that Mizuho Bank has implemented the Boomi Enterprise Platform to accelerate ISO 20022 compliance and modernize its payments infrastructure across the Asia Pacific region. The deployment aims to enhance client experiences by simplifying payment instructions, automating onboarding, and ensuring seamless scalability without exposing customers to regulatory complexities.

As part of Mizuho Financial Group—one of the world’s largest financial institutions spanning corporate, retail, and investment banking—the bank viewed the global transition from legacy SWIFT MT messaging to ISO 20022 as an opportunity not just to comply, but to elevate service delivery. The move enables Mizuho to shield corporate clients from the operational disruptions typically associated with large-scale financial messaging upgrades.

“We knew the ISO 20022 transition had the potential to disrupt our clients’ day-to-day operations. Instead of pushing that complexity onto them, we decided to own it,” said Andy Nam, Regional CIO at Mizuho Bank. “This project allows our clients to continue using their familiar file formats while we handle the conversion invisibly in the background.”

To achieve this, Mizuho invested in a flexible self-service portal built on Boomi’s low-code platform. The system accommodates any payment file format—legacy or ISO 20022—and automates translation, validation, and secure transmission. By consolidating various conversion tools previously used across its APAC branches, the bank now operates through a unified web-based interface that streamlines operations and reduces technical overhead.

The transformation has significantly accelerated onboarding, cutting timelines from months to weeks. It has also improved client acquisition efficiency and reduced cost-to-serve, with the platform already live in key Asia Pacific markets and expanding across the region.

Beyond compliance, the new infrastructure serves as a long-term foundation for digital innovation. “Getting the project live in a rapid timeframe was a big win, but the real achievement is what it has enabled,” Nam added. “We’ve built a scalable foundation that not only meets current compliance needs but also adapts to the next wave of digital banking transformation.”

Boomi executives note that the initiative demonstrates how modern integration strategies can merge legacy and next-generation systems without risking service continuity. “Payments modernisation doesn’t happen in a vacuum,” said David Irecki, Chief Technology Officer, Asia Pacific and Japan at Boomi. “Mizuho Bank’s approach blends compliance with client-centricity. By embedding ISO 20022 into a flexible integration strategy, they’ve future-proofed their operations and unlocked new ways to innovate at scale.”

The bank plans to extend the platform’s capabilities to support a broader range of corporate client needs as regulatory changes and digital expectations continue to evolve across the region.
