MALAYSIA, 30 SEPTEMBER 2026 – The Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) 2026 recorded total sales of USD 1.66 billion during its four-day event from 23 to 26 September 2026. This marks a 12.0 percent increase compared to the USD 1.48 billion generated in 2025 and surpasses the initial event sales target of USD 1.23 billion by 35.5 percent. Organized by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), the exhibition reinforced its position as a global trade hub connecting local enterprises with international commercial buyers.

Chief Executive Officer of MATRADE, Dato’ Indera Abu Bakar Yusof, stated that the strong performance underscores the platform’s role in helping Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) expand into non-traditional and emerging foreign markets. He highlighted the deployment of Agentic AI under the MADANI Digital Trade Platform (MDTP), which facilitates ongoing trade matching between Malaysian exporters and global procurement channels beyond the physical event duration.

The 2026 edition saw attendance reach a record 69,104 visitors from 93 countries, representing a 37.3 percent rise from 50,340 attendees in 2025. Participating exhibitors and buyers represented 58 countries. Growth across core segments was led by the International Sourcing Programme (INSP), which generated USD 985.42 million in trade value, up 10.9 percent from USD 889.82 million in 2025. The physical MIHAS Exhibition contributed USD 487.81 million, driven by demand for processed food, confectionery, food technology, packaging, frozen food, and agrochemicals.

Malaysian SMEs participating in the exhibition generated USD 152.00 million in sales, representing an 11.3 percent year-on-year increase from USD 136.54 million in 2025. SME turnout has expanded from 64 companies in 2021 to 339 companies in 2026, marking a 429.7 percent growth rate over six editions. This performance aligns with national halal export figures, which reached USD 16.80 billion in 2025. Under the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK13), national targets aim to hit USD 19.61 billion in total halal export revenue.

Technological integration played a central role, with Agentic AI generating over 22,000 assisted business appointments. Among these completed matches, 324 reported associated sales totaling USD 6.86 million. The digital matching platform will remain active through 2027 to facilitate continuous trade connectivity between foreign buyers and domestic suppliers.
