Microsoft: Skype merges with MSN
The proprietary voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP) service and software application provider, Skype who was acquired by Microsoft Corp last year, replaced Microsoft Messenger (MSN) for online chat service, according to Skype’s online statement.
With the release of the latest Skype software, version 6.0, millions of MSN users will be able to access Skype using Microsoft account and reach their MSN friends on Skype, either via instant message or video call.
Skype said that they want to focus their efforts on making things simpler for their users while continuously improving overall experience and they retire MSN in all countries worldwide in the first quarter of 2013 except the mainland of China.
