MGBF and Nikkei scoutAsia Unveil Future of Media and Business Intelligence

The Malaysia Global Business Forum (MGBF) and Nikkei scoutAsia hosted a roundtable event on the “Strategic Convergence of Media and Business Intelligence,” bringing together experts to discuss how integrating media insights with business intelligence can drive strategic growth. Key topics included identifying market opportunities through real-time media insights and addressing strategic gaps using comprehensive intelligence frameworks.


5 June 2024 – The Malaysia Global Business Forum (MGBF) and Nikkei scoutAsia co-hosted a seminal roundtable event titled “The Strategic Convergence of Media and Business Intelligence” on May 29, 2024, in Kuala Lumpur. This event convened industry leaders, business executives, media professionals, and experts to delve into the synergies between media and business intelligence and their impact on strategic decision-making.

Nordin Abdullah, Founding Chairman of MGBF, set the stage with his welcome address, underscoring the imperative for businesses to stay ahead in the digital age by integrating media and business intelligence. “In today’s fast-paced digital environment, the integration of media and business intelligence is crucial for uncovering new opportunities and addressing strategic challenges,” Nordin remarked.

The roundtable featured two insightful panel sessions. The first session, titled “Identification of Business Opportunity using Media Intelligence,” highlighted the critical role of real-time media insights in identifying new market trends and opportunities. Speakers emphasized the increasing reliance on advanced analytics and AI-driven tools to extract actionable insights from vast data sets.

The second session, “Addressing Strategic Gaps and Corporate Blind Spots,” focused on the necessity for businesses to continuously monitor their environments to detect potential risks and gaps. Panelists stressed the importance of comprehensive intelligence frameworks that incorporate both traditional business data and contemporary media intelligence to provide a holistic market view.

A key highlight was the presentation by Sachvinder Singh, Director of Handshakes and Nikkei scoutAsia, who demonstrated real-world case studies showcasing how the Nikkei scoutAsia tool facilitates the strategic convergence between media and business intelligence. “The power of these tools lies in transforming vast amounts of unstructured data into strategic insights, enabling businesses to make informed decisions,” said Sachvinder.

Despite the advancements, the discussions revealed existing gaps in the integration of media and business intelligence. Participants called for more sophisticated tools that seamlessly integrate diverse data sources and emphasized the need for professional training to effectively utilize these tools. Continuous innovation was deemed essential to bridge these gaps and enhance businesses’ strategic capabilities.

In his closing remarks, Nordin Abdullah expressed his hopes for fruitful business matching sessions, encouraging participants to forge partnerships leveraging the convergence of media and business intelligence. “We hope that all participants find the business matching sessions productive and continue to build partnerships that drive strategic growth and innovation,” he concluded.

Dr. Jessica Ong from the National Defence University of Malaysia, Radu Magdin, CEO of Smartlink Communications, Samantha Tai Yit Chan, CEO of BoardRoom Malaysia, Chandra Krishman, Assistant Director of Business Development for Nikkei scoutAsia, and Roberto Calleja Fernandez, Senior Lecturer at INTI International College Subang. Ruzanna Muhammad, Editor-at-Large for News Hub Asia, moderated the sessions.
