AUSTRALIA, 29 SEPTEMEBER 2026 – Coveo (TSX: CVO), an enterprise artificial intelligence relevance platform provider, announced that Australian wholesale distributor Metcash has expanded its technology partnership to integrate conversational search capabilities into its business-to-business customer communications platform, AskROSS.
Metcash, which supplies independent grocery, hardware, and liquor businesses across Australia, aims to modernize how it supports its retail network by transitioning from traditional keyword search to natural language conversational search. Powered by Coveo’s generative artificial intelligence, the AskROSS portal allows retailers to ask natural language questions and receive real-time answers to resolve routine inquiries independently. The AI capability will also be integrated directly into customer support agent interfaces to assist service teams in providing faster resolutions.
The initiative builds on existing deployments of Coveo across Metcash’s digital ecosystem, including its online wholesale marketplace, Sorted. Enterprise technology advisory firm Publicis Sapient worked alongside Metcash for the past two years to establish the underlying service foundations and digital architecture for the project.
Madeleine Fitzpatrick, general manager retail at Metcash, stated that embedding generative artificial intelligence directly into the communications platform helps independent retailers spend less time searching for operational information and more time focused on serving end consumers. Alexander Mahr, managing director for Coveo Asia-Pacific, added that the investment reflects a clear commitment to equipping Australian retailers with trusted artificial intelligence tools that drive better business decisions.
