The DEX Connex Programme, concluded at the Vietnam Innovation Summit 2024, enabled Malaysian tech companies to establish strategic collaborations worth over RM150 million with Vietnamese counterparts, advancing bilateral digital innovation and economic growth.
14 November 2024 – The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) recently marked a significant milestone by concluding the DEX Connex Programme in Vietnam, held in conjunction with the Vietnam Innovation Summit 2024. Demonstrating its commitment to supporting Malaysian technology firms in their international growth, MDEC led a delegation of 30 Malaysian tech companies to the programme, underscoring a collective effort to foster cross-border innovation and economic progress.
A central highlight of the event was the formal exchange of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and Agreements (MoAs) between Malaysian and Vietnamese companies. These agreements stem from the ongoing MoU between MDEC and Sunwah Innovation, which aims to strengthen digital economy ties between the two nations. The collaborations, supported by MDEC, are designed to spur innovation, boost competitiveness, and open new avenues for digital growth by leveraging the strengths and expertise of each country.
Key partnerships forged during the DEX Connex Vietnam 2024 programme include:
- Finhero (Malaysia) and Solarvest (Vietnam): A strategic partnership focused on transforming Vietnam’s renewable energy sector by enabling new opportunities in solar project financing through advanced technology.
- Sandmerit (Malaysia) and Wemonster Company Limited (Vietnam): This collaboration aims to improve business performance in Vietnam through innovative KPI software solutions.
- GoFluence (Malaysia) and GoFluence (Vietnam): A strategic acquisition underscoring GoFluence’s commitment to expanding its operations within Vietnam.
The programme, which resulted in engagements valued at over RM150 million, highlights the DEX Connex Programme’s vital role in amplifying Malaysia’s presence in the global tech sector. Reflecting on prior success across the Philippines, Indonesia, and Thailand, previous DEX Connex events saw 150 companies exchanging 29 MoUs and MoAs, generating over RM600 million in potential opportunities for Malaysian firms.
This year’s DEX Connex in Vietnam was made possible through the support of key partners, including the Consulate General of Malaysia in Ho Chi Minh City, Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) Vietnam, Sunwah Innovation, the Malaysia Business Chamber Vietnam (MBCV), Hong Kong Business Association Vietnam, China Business Association HCMC Branch, and Innolab Asia. Together, these organizations continue to champion collaborative efforts to advance innovation and economic growth in the region.
