MDEC Secures RM350 Million in Global Deals at Sushi Tech Tokyo 2025, Showcasing Malaysia’s Digital Prowess

Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) has clinched over RM350 million in business export opportunities at Sushi Tech Tokyo 2025, reinforcing Malaysia’s status as a global digital innovation hub. The achievement was supported by strategic collaborations and showcased the strength of 17 leading Malaysian tech companies.


MALAYSIA, 16 MAY 2025 – The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) has announced that it secured over RM350 million in business export opportunities at Sushi Tech Tokyo 2025, Asia’s largest startup and innovation conference. The significant milestone underlines Malaysia’s rising prominence as a global digital and technology hub.

Held in Tokyo, Sushi Tech Tokyo 2025 drew tens of thousands of participants and over 500 startups from around the world, all gathered to tackle global urban challenges through breakthrough innovations. Malaysia made a strong impression with its digital delegation, spearheaded by MDEC in collaboration with MATRADE Tokyo, the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), SIDEC, and Cyberview Sdn Bhd.

MDEC CEO Anuar Fariz Fadzil lauded the achievement, emphasizing its reflection of Malaysia’s international standing. “This accomplishment is a clear reflection of the innovative spirit and resilience of Malaysian digital entrepreneurs. Our commitment to promoting Malaysia as a global digital hub is stronger than ever,” he said.

The Malaysia Pavilion featured 17 dynamic tech companies, which hosted over 150 business meetings with international corporates from countries including Thailand, South Korea, Australia, Mexico, and the United States. Discussions covered advanced sectors such as artificial intelligence, fintech, robotics, semiconductors, and quantum technology.

Companies showcased included Alphaswift Industries, Boostorder, Hikayat Kebun, Neupulse (BiiB), Sky-Tag Robotics, and Qarbotech, among others. One of the major highlights of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between MDEC and leading Japanese tech firm WingArc1st. The partnership will empower Malaysian startups with data capabilities and facilitate their entry into the Japanese market through Proof of Concept (PoC) projects and funding support.

Additionally, Boostorder entered a strategic collaboration with WingArc1st to enhance operational efficiency and promote data-driven decision-making, underscoring the shared commitment to digital transformation and business innovation.
