This summit marks the first in a series of events designed to drive AI adoption across industries, reinforcing MDEC’s role as a key player in Malaysia’s digital transformation. The event was officially inaugurated by YB Tuan Gobind Singh Deo, Minister of Digital, alongside YB Tuan Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh, Chairman of MDEC, underlining the government’s commitment to positioning Malaysia as the digital hub of ASEAN.

Aligned with the Malaysia Digital (MD) national initiative, the summit brought together a diverse group of entrepreneurs, startups, industry leaders, policymakers, and academics. The event provided a crucial platform for showcasing AI innovations, fostering business connections, and promoting the adoption of AI technologies across multiple sectors.

As Malaysia continues its digitalisation efforts, the adoption of AI is crucial for unlocking the country’s future potential. Emerging technologies like generative AI are projected to contribute up to USD 113.4 billion in productive capacity by 2030, driving personalisation, supply chain optimisation, and data-driven decision-making. Experts predict that AI could add USD 1 trillion to the region’s GDP by 2030, highlighting its transformative impact on the Malaysian economy.

Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are expected to see significant benefits, including enhanced productivity, reduced operational costs, and access to AI tools that will help them stay competitive. Large enterprises can leverage AI to streamline operations, employ predictive analytics, and gain AI-driven insights to fuel growth.

The summit also provided an opportunity for tech providers to showcase innovative AI solutions, fostering collaborations with businesses and opening new market opportunities. For the government, this event further solidifies Malaysia’s leadership in driving Industry 4.0 transformation, aligning with the Malaysia Digital Economy Blueprint (MyDIGITAL), which aims to position the country as a global leader in the digital economy.
