This pivotal development signifies a significant step forward in the implementation of 5G technology in Malaysia, as major telecommunications companies unite to provide comprehensive 5G services.
Fahmi Fadzil conveyed this significant advancement in a Facebook post, underscoring the broadening scope of 5G services across Malaysia. This collaboration represents the culmination of several meetings that transpired following the Cabinet’s decision on May 3 to transition the 5G implementation model to a dual network once DNB’s ongoing rollout achieves 80% coverage in densely populated areas.
The previously announced involvement of CelcomDigi, Telekom Malaysia, U-Mobile, and YTL Communications in the DNB initiative remains on track. As part of this commitment, these companies are set to finalize their shareholding process in DNB and extend their support to the development of the 5G network by DNB. The success of the Malaysia 5G Dual Network Implementation Task Force is evident through the achievement of agreements related to equity participation in DNB and the establishment of the 5G access agreement with DNB. This milestone underscores the government’s proactive approach in fostering collaboration among key industry players to expedite the rollout of cutting-edge 5G technology and ensure widespread accessibility for the Malaysian population.
The commitment displayed by Maxis to join forces with DNB in this 5G endeavor reflects the telecommunications industry’s collective determination to advance Malaysia’s technological landscape.
