Mastercard has launched the fourth edition of its Innovation Circuit at its Singapore Experience Center, themed “Next Lap in Payments,” showcasing how agentic commerce, digital identity and AI-driven intelligence are shaping the future of payments. The company also announced plans to open new Innovation Centers in Kuala Lumpur and Tokyo later this year.

MALAYSIA, 21 JULY 2026 – As commerce becomes more connected, intelligent and identity-led, financial institutions, payment partners, merchants, policymakers and industry stakeholders across Asia Pacific are seeking practical ways to prepare for the payment ecosystem of 2030, one that is expected to be trusted, interoperable, data-driven, secure and convenient. With AI agents increasingly influencing how consumers discover products, make decisions and complete transactions, the industry is under pressure to ensure emerging commerce experiences remain secure, consumer-controlled and scalable.

At the Mastercard Experience Center in Singapore, the company’s flagship innovation hub for Asia Pacific, Mastercard is bringing that future to life through interactive experiences and co-creation sessions with financial institutions, fintechs, merchants and partners. The Singapore center is one of seven Mastercard Experience Centers worldwide and is designed to help the industry explore emerging payment technologies in a hands-on setting.

Visitors to the center can now experience the latest iteration of Mastercard’s Innovation Circuit, an immersive workshop journey now in its fourth edition. This year’s theme, Next Lap in Payments, explores how agentic commerce, trusted digital identity, tokenization, interoperability and AI-driven network intelligence are converging to support secure, seamless and convenient commerce experiences. The motor racing-inspired theme builds on Mastercard’s sponsorship of the McLaren Mastercard Formula 1 Team, drawing on the speed, precision and agility of motor racing to frame what it will take to power the next generation of payments.

Matthew Driver, Executive Vice President, Services, Asia Pacific at Mastercard, said that as new technologies reshape how people discover, choose and pay, organizations need to understand how to make commerce trusted, scalable and commercially viable. He added that the Singapore center gives partners a practical way to connect identity, tokenization, fraud prevention and payments innovation, and to explore what these capabilities could mean for their customers, operations and growth.

The Innovation Circuit brings this approach to life through three stages, referred to as pitstops, each focused on a distinct layer of the future payments ecosystem: trust, experience and intelligence. Together, these stages demonstrate how individual technologies can connect across an end-to-end commerce journey, from identity and onboarding to discovery, payment, authorization, fraud prevention, optimization and insights.

In the first stage, Igniting Innovation, participants explore the trust and identity foundations underpinning next-generation commerce, including biometric onboarding flows, tokenized credential-sharing experiences and consent-driven identity models. The session shows how secure digital identity can allow consumers to authorize AI agents to act on their behalf while retaining visibility and control over their data.

The second stage, Shifting Gears, moves into the commerce experience itself, following a sports fan through an interactive journey across ticketing, merchandise, upgrades and payments. Participants engage with AI-powered shopping and concierge agents capable of booking event tickets, delivering location-aware alerts, recommending gear upgrades and securing merchandise, illustrating how multiple agents can coordinate across merchants and payment methods in real time.

In the final stage, Powering Growth, the focus shifts to the data and intelligence layer beneath each transaction. Participants follow a single transaction data point from initiation through optimization, observing how data, AI models, tokenization and network intelligence work together to detect fraud signals, optimize approvals and generate actionable insights while preserving privacy and security.

Mastercard has also announced plans to introduce Innovation Centers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and Tokyo, Japan, later this year, extending its innovation experience closer to customers and partners across the region. The new centers will be designed around immersive storytelling and collaborative live-test environments shaped by local market needs, with additional locations planned across Asia Pacific.
