Mastercard has expanded its Agent Suite for Merchants and introduced Mastercard Agent Connect to help businesses seamlessly integrate AI-powered discovery, research, and secure checkout into their e-commerce platforms. The initiatives allow merchants to retain full control over pricing, brand rules, and customer relationships while enabling trusted consumer-authorized transactions across emerging AI platforms.

MALAYSIA, 14 SEPTEMBER 2026 – Global payments giant Mastercard has announced an expansion of its Mastercard Agent Suite for Merchants alongside the launch of Mastercard Agent Connect, designed to empower businesses to navigate the shift toward AI-powered shopping. As consumer buying habits transition from traditional websites and mobile applications to conversational AI agents, the new solutions enable merchants of all sizes to embed agentic commerce directly into their existing e-commerce environments while keeping firm control over their brand standards, business rules, and customer relationships.

The expanded Mastercard Agent Suite for Merchants equips businesses to make their product information—including details, real-time pricing, availability, and fulfillment options—easily discoverable and actionable by AI platforms. Building on collaborations with leading AI research labs like Anthropic, Mastercard is making Anthropic’s commerce agent blueprint accessible through the suite. This framework enables merchants to construct specialized shopping agents powered by Claude models that incorporate Mastercard’s commerce intelligence, security controls, and payment capabilities directly onto their digital channels.

To resolve the operational challenge of managing multiple integrations across disparate AI systems, Mastercard introduced Mastercard Agent Connect. The solution serves as a unified integration point connecting merchants, payment providers, digital platforms, and AI agents. Through Agent Connect, external AI assistants can discover merchant product catalogs, assemble recommendations into a consumer cart with verified tax and shipping details, and execute secure purchases across any payment network using authorized consumer credentials. Transactions can be further protected by Mastercard Agent Pay, which leverages Verifiable Intent technology to confirm that purchases strictly align with user authorization.

A broad ecosystem of technology partners, financial acquirers, and international merchants—including Castlery, Fabrick, Fiserv, FreedomPay, Getnet, Global Payments, Moneris, Network International, Nexi, Planet, Trip.com, Vodafone Egypt, Wizard, Wompi, and Worldline—plan to leverage the expanded suite and connectivity features. Rolling out initially in the United States before broader global availability, the solutions aim to bridge the gap between artificial intelligence discovery and trusted, enterprise-grade commerce execution.
