Malaysia and China Join Forces to Drive Technological Advancements Through Strategic Partnership

Malaysia’s MRANTI and Beijing Zhongguancun Science City Innovation Development Co Ltd have signed an MOU to collaborate on strategic initiatives, enhancing technological capabilities and fostering innovation. The partnership aims to create opportunities for both countries to access capital, markets, talents, and innovation, shaping the future of technology and innovation landscapes in Malaysia.


27 April 2024 – The Malaysian Research Accelerator for Technology and Innovation (MRANTI) has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Beijing Zhongguancun Science City Innovation Development Co Ltd, marking a significant collaboration to advance technology and innovation.

Announcing the partnership on Thursday, Science, Technology, and Innovation Minister Chang Lih Kang highlighted the deepening ties between Malaysia and China, particularly in critical areas such as science and technology.

“We are eager to expand our cooperation across various sectors, including interconnectivity, the digital economy, the green economy, modern agriculture, and biomedicine. These efforts reflect our mutual interests and the dynamic capabilities of our nations to drive substantial progress together,” said Minister Chang.

MRANTI’s CEO, Datuk Wira Dr Rais Hussin Mohamed Ariff, emphasized that this collaboration will enhance Malaysia’s technological capabilities on the global stage. He stressed the importance of creating a common platform for Malaysia and China to access capital, markets, talents, and innovation.

“For Malaysia, the ability to access the massive market in China, tap into funding/capital through the 80 unicorns in ZGC (Zhongguancun), not forgetting the highly robust talents and innovation that can engender massive impact and outcome to the nation and society. A new deal that will shape the future of technology and innovation landscape in Malaysia, exciting times ahead indeed,” said Dr. Rais Hussin.
