Kaspersky Report Reveals Decline in Local Cyber Threats in Malaysia Amidst Ongoing Vigilance

Kaspersky’s latest report shows a decline in local cyber threats targeting Malaysia, but experts stress the need for continued vigilance.

6 February 2024 – Kaspersky, a global cybersecurity and digital privacy company, has released its latest findings on the local threat landscape in Malaysia over a three-year span. The report indicates a consistent yet marginal decrease in cyber threats from 2021 to 2023, with worms and file viruses posing the most prevalent risks. Utilizing data collected by the Kaspersky Security Network (KSN), the report sheds light on the frequency of malware attacks propagated through removable USB drives and other offline methods.

In response to the findings, Yeo Siang Tiong, General Manager for Southeast Asia at Kaspersky, underscores the importance of practicing robust cyber hygiene measures to mitigate local threats effectively. The report also emphasizes the necessity for organizations to strengthen their cybersecurity infrastructures and continuously monitor for potential risks. While the decline in local threats offers some relief, experts caution against complacency, stressing the ongoing need for vigilance in safeguarding against evolving cyber threats.
