Kaspersky’s report highlights a decrease in web threats detected in Malaysia, yet underscores the ongoing need for heightened cybersecurity vigilance in the face of persistent cybercriminal activities targeting individuals and businesses.
28 February 2024 – In a bid to shine a light on the evolving cyber threat landscape in Malaysia, leading global cybersecurity firm Kaspersky has released an insightful analysis of web threats detected in the country over the past two years. The report underscores the relentless nature of cybercriminal activities and the critical need for robust cybersecurity measures to safeguard individuals and businesses against emerging digital risks.
According to Kaspersky’s findings, Malaysia experienced a notable decrease in web threats detected last year, with a total of 26,854,304 online threats blocked by the company’s solutions. However, despite this decline, Malaysia remains a prominent target for cyberattacks in Southeast Asia, signaling the persistent threat posed by cybercriminals in the region.
Yeo Siang Tiong, General Manager for Southeast Asia at Kaspersky, warns against complacency in the face of reduced web threats, citing the prevalence of impersonation scams and other cybercrimes reported by authorities. To combat evolving cyber threats, Kaspersky recommends a proactive approach, including cautious online behavior and the adoption of robust cybersecurity solutions.
